My urban project focuses on mobility and the connection of green spaces. Car traffic inside the district is strongly reduced, creating a mostly car-free zone that works like a pedestrian area, while access for deliveries and emergency services is still possible. Cars are no longer parked on the streets but in two new parking hubs. This improves safety, air quality, and the overall quality of public space. A new school is located in the green center of the district, surrounded by open spaces and calm streets, and acts as a new social focal point. The highway near the river is moved into a tunnel, which also allows the integration of a new subway line. This creates a safe and direct connection for pedestrians and cyclists to the river. The riverfront is transformed into a public park with seating steps leading down to the water and a natural, gently sloping river edge. Sports and playground areas are integrated to offer different activities for all age groups. New mixed-use buildings frame the park, with shops, restaurants, and services on the ground floor and housing on the upper floors, bringing life and activity to the waterfront.
