Descripción

The Nieuwdok NDSM building by Moke Architecten is integrated into our project in Malmö, on a former industrial site where ships were once stored. The building hosts workshops, exhibition and cultural spaces, public meeting areas, and housing, creating an active and mixed-use environment. An existing footbridge on the site is extended to connect the two riverbanks and ensure continuous pedestrian and cycling flows. Combined with green roofs, revegetated riverbanks, permeable parking surfaces, and green public spaces, the project transforms the former port into a resilient and sustainable urban landscape.

The Nieuwdok NDSM building by Moke Architecten fits naturally into our project in Malmö, located on a former industrial site where ships were once stored. Long abandoned and marked by an ecological break between the two riverbanks, this area required an intervention capable of reconnecting the urban landscape and transforming the old port into an active and accessible place. The building hosts workshops, exhibition and cultural spaces, public meeting areas, and housing. This functional mix activates the site while preserving open green spaces and ecological continuity. The building remains traversable, allowing smooth pedestrian movement without fragmenting the landscape. An existing footbridge on the site is extended to connect the two riverbanks, ensuring continuous pedestrian and cycling flows. The project is structured around four strategies: revegetated riverbanks, green roofs, permeable parking surfaces, and the greening of public spaces. Together, these elements transform the former industrial site into a resilient and sustainable neighborhood, where architecture and landscape work together to create a greener Malmö.
