The proposal envisions a sustainable, interconnected Chandigarh by 2050, addressing population growth through low-density collective housing, small reservoirs with green corridors, and the blurring of urban-natural boundaries by burying roads. A hybrid tram-metro system—partly underground, partly elevated—will enhance mobility, while ground floors of buildings will support local commerce and essential services, keeping large commercial hubs on the outskirts to preserve the city’s human scale and Le Corbusier’s legacy.
